DJ Sumbody’s Mother Allegedly Barred From His Club
The mother of Oupa John Sefoka, popularly known as DJ Sumbody, has reportedly been barred from the late rapper’s nightclub, Ayepyep, in Pretoria, Gauteng.
A local publication broke the news on Sunday, 28 May, that Maputo Violet Sefoka had allegedly been forcefully removed from the club after she had “‘unlawfully’ instructed employees to hand over equipment, including speed point bank card terminals.”
While the publication didn’t specify exactly when the incident is believed to have taken place, it went on to mention that Kagiso Setsetse, DJ Sumbody’s former business partner and club co-owner, had gone the legal route earlier this year to prevent Maputo from entering the premises without permission.
The rapper was shot dead in the early hours of 20 November last year in Johannesburg. So far, no arrests have been made surrounding his death.
While Maputo is said to have subsequently been appointed as the executor of the estate, Setsetse remains unconvinced that the estate legally includes the nightclub.
“Should one of the shareholders die, the executor of the estate shall be deemed to have offered the deceased shares to the existing shareholder at a fair value,” the shareholders’ agreement from 2017 is believed to have said.
